Mr.Rajiv Chopra, Faculty, Delhi School of Photography

Rajiv Chopra graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Soon after graduating from engineering college, he began his photography journey in Bombay.

Rajiv started doing street and travel photography with black-and-white film in Bombay. He still has his first camera, an Olympus OM-2m that he bought from Fountain, on Bombay’s streets.

Rajiv focused on black-and-white work in the first years of his photography and moved to color photography when he bought his first digital camera, the Nikon D70 when he was in China. He upgraded from the D 70 to the D 200 a year later and then to the Nikon D 810 several years later.

Rajiv’s main cameras are the Fujifilm X 100 V (mainly for street photography) and the Fujifilm X-T4 (for street and travel photography). He uses the Nikon D 810 for landscape photography and natural light portraiture.

Rajiv is a member of the Photography Society of America, where he studied the history of photography. He later did a project on the seven cities of Delhi, digitally simulating different processes from the 19th century

Apart from his digital cameras, he owns a Nikon F75 (a film camera), three vintage cameras (Zeiss, Voigtlander, and Ensign), a Holga medium-format camera, two pinhole cameras, pinhole body caps for his Nikon cameras, and other accessories.

Rajiv believes in continuously pushing creative boundaries and that, apart from client work, a photographer must continue to work on passion projects.

His Instagram handle is rajivchopra.photography, and you can follow his travel blog at https://rajivchopra.substack.com

His website, which is under construction yet, is at https://rajivchopra.smugmug.com

As a teacher, he firmly believes that the conversation with the student should extend to discussions about the soul of photography and a few practical aspects that people sometimes overlook.
